YK Ship Pte Ltd was established in 1999 under the name Yang Kee Shipping Pte Ltd, with a core business as freight forwarders for machine auctioneers such as Bintang Auctions. Even today, YK Ship Pte Ltd still performs that role, with their own team of mechanics for machine repairs and ensuring that cargo can be trans-shipped in working condition. This phase allowed YK Ship Pte Ltd to establish their client base and earn the trust of their client, many of whom are still clients today. The company switched to their current name, YK Ship Pte Ltd, in 2004 along with a sharpening of their focus on automotive logistics.

The shipping industry is one that runs 24/7, as business is conducted regardless of differences in time zones, and this philosophy is what drives Mr Lim and his 6 full-time employees to perform at a consistently high level for their clients.
